The composition of natural humus includes the following main groups of substances:

✓ Humic acids (soluble only in alkalis)

✓ Fulvic acids (soluble in alkaline and acidic solutions)

✓ Ulminic acids (soluble in an alcoholic solution of humic acids)

✓ Humin (insoluble in either alkaline or acidic solutions)

Due to the complexity of the extraction of all these active humic compounds, as well as due to their varying degrees of solubility, most of the preparations available on the market are humates. Humates are salts of ONLY humic and fulvic acids obtained by extraction of these compounds with potassium or sodium alkali. the pH of humates is alkaline, above 9.

It is because of this that SOFBEY SARL set itself the goal of making a preparation with an acidic pH (4-5), which would contain, in addition to humic and fulvic acids, also ulmic acids and humin, as well as other beneficial nutrients found in natural leonardite.

Humic and fulvic acids have a so-called “indirect effect”, acting as soil activators, stimulating the metabolism of microorganisms and the dynamics of nutrients. Thus, ordinary humates containing salts of only humic and fulvic acids are more active for the soil; composition, and pH.

On the contrary, ulminic acids and humin contained in BLACKJACK® act as plant growth activators through a “direct action” at the level of metabolism, hormonal and enzymatic processes. Certain components of humin are absorbed and transported directly by the vascular system of plants and are catalysts of numerous metabolic processes. Ulminic acids tend to ionize metals, acting in

the role of natural chelating agents. Just like humin, ulmic acids are able to stimulate and enhance the development of the root system.

It is thanks to the full spectrum of BLACKJACK® humic components, in contrast to humates, extremely active and beneficial for plants in foliar application. And just as effective when applied through a drip irrigation system, since humic and fulvic acids in BLACKJACK® are in their original form (and not in the form of salts as in humates) and maximally useful and active in the soil.
